The High Sheriff of Suffolk, Mark Pendlington DL, has awarded The Mix with a Certificate of Gratitude and Recognition for the youth work they deliver.
The office of the High Sheriff is at least 1,000 years old and is a significant role in the country; appointed by The King, they are an independent and non-political appointment, and the sovereign representative for each county. Today there are 55 High Sheriffs serving counties across England and Wales.
The High Sheriff is passionate about working with the voluntary sector, particularly those who support young people, and was particularly interested in understanding the challenges the charity faced, and what he could do to raise the profile of the charity.
Mark Pendlington DL, High Sheriff of Suffolk, said; “What a very great pleasure to see at first hand the inspiration, encouragement, and active support the amazing team at The Mix offers to young people.
“Everyone is welcome, and no-one is left behind as the next generation brings energy and ideas to help shape a bright future for themselves. And for those needing that bit of extra support, there is compassion and understanding too. How brilliant that The Mix is growing into other locations too. More please!

As of 2023, we work with over 300 young people each month across the county. We have two youth work hubs in Stowmarket and in Needham Market and are providing youth work in three local secondary schools, and 12 local primary schools, engaging with over 2,000 young people each year across all youth work programmes.
Malcolm Goodwin, CEO of The Mix, said; “It was a pleasure to host the High Sheriff of Suffolk at The Mix. He has been supportive of the charity before he was High Sheriff and having him visit in his official role with the certificate of Gratitude and Recognition was a real accolade for the charity and the team.
“He is incredibly complimentary about everything The Mix is doing for young and the local community, and he was very keen to visit the charity again and be involved in some of the youth work we deliver.”
